If that is true it is a shame I thought the Marlin bolt actions were solid entry level rifles. I personally prefer them over Remington's entry level bolt actions.

The 795 is a great vehicle for appleseed. Just because lots of people get sucked into 10/22s for the aftermarket parts doesn't mean its a better rifle. The 795 is easily more accurate out of the box than a 10/22, cost less, and is a heck of a lot of fun to shoot.
