Some thoughts on the coil gun. Discussion. I've been messing with the gunner's new secondary - the coil gun - since the new experimental branch came out. Tried out all overclocks and modifiers. It definitely seems underwhelming. The main innovation with this gun is that it can shoot through terrain, just like the engie's breach cutter. Most basic-bitch build for Gunner, at least for me, is Auto with Carpet Bomber OC paired with BRT Lead Spray OC. Both OCs offer a combination of amazing aoe and single target damage. Carpet Bomber with 3/3/1/2/1 is my go-to, but if you want to be more ammo efficient, you choose 2 on T3. The dps is significantly higher with RoF on T3. NTP is the best gunner primary OC without question. This build makes it shokingly competent at doing single target damage, while keeping the insane (overpowered) swarm control of Neurotoxin+Fear.
