May 7, 2019 · My Security 9 has had four FTEs across approximately 310 rounds since new. The first two were classic stovepipes and easily cleared. The last two were very odd in that the spent casing stayed in the barrel’s chamber requiring me to use a small wooden dowel to pry the casing out; not good for a home defense/carry gun! The finish Ruger puts on these Security 9's is thin, no doubt. I have a Bersa Thunder 380, that I have had for a few years now, and it has developed some issues on the slide. I am vigorous with keeping it oiled, but the finish Bersa puts on those steel slides is thin at best.
