Just checked my old No Spoon save. I made the resource patches as large/frequent/rich as possible, and made the biters as easy as possible (they still have to be on though). Then I just used the standard SPM ratios (5 red/6 green/etc for 45 spm at level 2 assemblers), and only researched technologies that directly helped launch the rocket.Find a good map. My total resource consumptions: 600k iron, 400k copper, 280k coal. Decent patches within start area will make your life much easier. There are also plenty of map setting suggestions to avoid bitters though challenge is fun :) The only research I did beyond rocket tree is circuit network.

The main trick is to not build too big, and get production going as early as possible. A blue circuit assembler that only works 25% of the time and is built at hour 4 is just as good as one built at hour 7 that operates 100% of the time. Building small and fast is better. 2 steel might be a bit overkill though.

These settings are all in the "Advanced settings" tab of "New game". All "Pollution" settings can be changed without disabling the achievements, the result is that enemies no longer attack your base.
