Oct 14, 2015 · Looking to ID further. Looking at a Chevy engine with the 3970010 casting number and trying to find out more info. The numbers on the machined pad on the front passenger side of the block are 151420105 K10 3P CMJ. From the info I'm looking at the CMJ means "1974 350 T400 Police" or "1980 305 full size/Camaro", but shouldn't the 9 digit VIN code ... The Engine Suffix Code is stamped on a block pad located immediately forward of the right hand or passenger side cylinder head. The entire engine code contains the assembly plant, month and day along with the engine suffix code. The way I have the block sitting is the 4 bolt main caps are facing down. I have found Four numbers. 3970010 along with "hecho en mexico" on the back drivers side. 254 on the back passenger side. 010 on the drivers side in front of the oil filter. and the engine code is "MK01800."
